I know it's 'cause Ricky's all about all-out attack, but it was interesting to see that every time the ref broke them up, he pushed Ricky back a few steps, who then paced forward a few steps to get stuck back in, meaning that over the course of the fight he must have covered three times the distance that Mayweather did. He took some cracking smacks though and it was exciting to watch, but you knew as it got to the eighth he needed a knockout. De La Hoya wanted him next anyway no?

He was well beaten in the end, I was glad it finished before he got hurt. We were intending to get in touch on saturday but I rather disappointingly left my phone at the folks house.It was a tough schedule on saturday but mick, jim and I braved through it with the help of larger, great entertainment in the form of old gills dvds (so much better than the present alternative) and a couple of games of darts. The wait until 5 in the morning wasn't particularly helped by Amir Khan's 72 second fight earlier in the night. Some poor Scottish fella got 10 minutes of build up on ITV to talk about how Khan was heading for a fall and had loads of weaknesses and then got battered to fuck striaght away.
