Melbourne Cup

It was the Melbourne Cup today, the Aussie version of the Grand National, held on the first Tuesday in November and billed as 'the race that stops a nation', which would tend to happen if you held the grand national on a weekday, but it's a decent excuse for a work drink and time off. Unfortunatley my clinical efficiency let me down and I went with my heart and backed English nag Tungsten Strike, thinking the darts connection was a sign. No idea why as I've missed all the big darts nights this year and the eventual winner was called... Efficient.

Also big in the news (and to tickle the fancy of you creative media sales types) was the subliminal advertising during the ARIAs (the Aussie Brit Awards). You couldn't make it up.

hey now! good to know you're finally there. Not sure about the pool mind, nice location, but is it deep enough? I guess you'll make do for now.
Like the idea of the subliminal ads, but what I really like is operator please, and their smash hit "just a song about ping pong." I can't wait till it catches on over here.
I have a quick question for you and for all the potential viewers of the site. Given that it's basically gonna be everyone we know, is there really any need for facebook too? What does that offer that this doesn't? Can I put an end to the work mates and ex-girlfriends trying to make cyber contact? Or am I missing something? I welcome all input.

Nah, there's no real 'need' for Facebook, I'll probably set up a flicker account an'all for general photos, or you could go incognito and change your facebook profile name, only using it to access the photos I upload and to put some up your self... or you could just email them to me.
The pool's decent enough, about two foot deep at the shallow end, six at the deep, and about 25m long, the main problem is too many kids on hot days, but that ain't been a problem so far as it's pissed it down since Monday! Being a man of leisure for the time being though, I can during the day, if it ever heats up (fear not, I'll be moaning about the heat soon enough...).
That Operator Please song was released in September and didn't do anything in the UK. They played 93 Feet East and I swerved it and declined an interview as they looked about 12. Huge over here mind.

alright chaps! facebook is ok and once you've rejected the initial wave of people from uni you didn't like, ex workmates you never liked and the one night stands you'd rather forget all trying to get thier number of "friends" up past the 1million mark or something it is actually a good way of sharing photos - will be sure to take my camera along to the darts as should be an eventful evening!
